War On Drugs’ long-awaited fifth studio album now has a release date, and the band have revealed the routing for a North American / European tour in 2022.

I don’t live here anymore will be released October 29 on Atlantic Records. The LP is described as “an unusual rock album about one of our most common but intimidating processes – resilience in the face of despair”. While the topic seems particularly relevant to the events of 2020 and 2021, the indie rock band has been working on the album for over three years.

The band spent over a dozen sessions working on the album at seven studios, including time spent at Electric Lady in New York and Sound City in Los Angeles. The process began in early 2018, a month after winning the Grammy for Best Rock Album for 2017. Deeper understanding, when conductor Adam Granduciel, bassist Dave Hartley and multi-instrumentalist Anthony LaMarca traveled to upstate New York to jam and record new demos.
Along with the news of the album and the tour, the group released on Monday the official video of the I don’t live here anymore opening of the album “Living Proof”. The video (posted below) was produced by filmmaker Emmett Malloy and features Granduciel at the historic Panoramic Studio in Stinson Beach, California.
War On Drugs’ 2022 Tour kicks off with two nights at ACL Live in Austin, Texas, January 19-20.
