Kevin Spacey Doc Series in the works on Channel 4 – The Hollywood Reporter

A documentary series on Kevin Spacey is in development for the British network Channel 4.

With a working title of Spacey unmaskedthe two-part series comes from Oscar-nominated doc specialist Roast Beef Production (The place, hell and back) in association with All3Media. It promises to take a forensic look at one of the world’s most powerful and respected actors. From his childhood to his emergency Broadway success and meteoric rise to stardom, to his dramatic fall from grace as he now faces multiple male grooming, sexual harassment and abuse charges.

Kira Phillips will direct, with Kathy Haywood producing and Dorothy Byrne and Mike Lerner executive producing.

The series, which was announced less than two weeks after Spacey first appeared in a London court, is expected to follow the results of two court cases against the actor: the civil case to be heard in New York in October 2022 brought by Anthony Rapp, Spacey’s first public prosecutor, and the impending criminal case recently opened in the UK by three unnamed men.

“Kevin Spacey is one of the most honored and admired actors of our time,” Byrne said. “His genius won him two Oscars and several other accolades. Critically acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic for his film work, he led the Old Vic for 11 years of remarkable success, becoming one of the most of London’s cultural life, a friend of some of its leading figures, making regular appearances in society columns.These films will follow the unfolding story of the abuse allegations against him and the court cases that result.
