Jackson’s weekend nightlife gears up for late summer 2022

As summer draws to a close, weekend nightlife in Jackson is brewing.

Jackson’s venues will have live performances from top bands, comedy shows and more this weekend and beyond.

Country music star Jamey Johnson headlines a 7 p.m. Sunday show at the Brandon Amphitheater which will be opened by blackberry smoke from Atlanta.

Blackberry Smoke drummer Brit Turner recently suffered a heart attack while at home in Atlanta, forcing the band to cancel at least one gig. However, according to multiple reports, Blackberry Smoke plans to play the remainder of their scheduled dates as an acoustic band until Turner recovers and is fit to play again.

In an interview earlier this week, Blackberry Smoke lead singer Charlie Starr said Sunday’s performance would celebrate the band’s recent album You Hear Georgia, the band’s latest album which was written during the pandemic lockdown. .

“During lockdown in 2020, that was the last song I wrote,” Starr said. “Part of the inspiration for the song comes from the fans wanting to hear the Southern accent and the rich traditions when I sing and the band plays.”

Below is a list of five great upcoming entertainment opportunities in the Jackson area.
