Exclusive first listen: “Do I miss you?” by Liddy Clark
We have all been there. I wonder if we should contact an ex via text or call. At this point, however, are we usually alone or do we really want to get back together with this person?
This question is the subject of the new single “Do I Miss You?” by LA-based country artist Liddy Clark. And today (April 7), the American songwriter presents the first listen to Clark’s nostalgic new track, who wonders aloud: Do I miss you or am I just alone?
“I had this track in my notes for a while and was trying to figure out the right way to write about it,” said Clark, who is a popular up-and-coming artist with millions of streams and probably just a few. nearly as many fans, told American Songwriter. of his new song. “Then one night, watching my bedroom ceiling fan spin over and over, I realized I felt as conflicted as the chorus of the song.
“I couldn’t figure out if I really wanted this person back in my life or if I just felt lonely, bored. So I wrote this song instead and deliberately left the ending up to the listener. You you’ll probably know by the end of the track whether you miss them or not, so might as well listen to it.
In the new track, Clark sings on an acoustic six-string:
I spin around the ceiling fan in my bedroom
With empty spaces in all these places I’ve never known
I’m back where you held me, where you told me what I needed to hear
Now I’m reaching out, I’m talking now, but nothing’s clear
Then the chorus hits:
Do I miss you or am I alone?
Do I want you or do you want you to hold me?
Is it ever as simple as that?
I know it’s late, I know it’s over
But I can’t leave until I know for a fact
That I’m just trying to trace my past
Or do I miss you?
do i miss you
